Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Friday asserted that an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid is imminent against him following his provocative 'chakravyuh' speech in Parliament.

 

Gandhi, undeterred, stated he was “waiting with open arms.”

 

In a post on X early Friday, Gandhi said, “Apparently, 2 in 1 didn't like my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders' tell me a raid is being planned,” adding, “Waiting with open arms @dir_ed ...Chai and biscuits on me.”

During the Lok Sabha debate on Budget 2024-25, Gandhi used the 'chakravyuh' metaphor to depict a climate of fear, claiming a group of six individuals has entrapped the nation in a 'chakravyuh' that the INDIA bloc intends to dismantle.

 

Gandhi's speech invoked the Mahabharat legend, where Abhimanyu was killed in a 'chakravyuh', a multi-layered military formation. He emphasized that such formations are marked by violence and fear.

 

Referencing the myth, he highlighted the resemblance of the 'chakravyuh' to a lotus, symbolizing the BJP’s election emblem.

 

He promised that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) would secure legal guarantees for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and a caste census.

 

“Thousands of years ago in Haryana's Kurukshetra, six people killed a youth, Abhimanyu, in a 'chakravyuh'. This 'chakravyuh' has violence and fear,” Gandhi had declared, pledging to break the metaphorical trap.
