In a surprise tactical move on the last day of nomination, the BJP today fielded former Congress minister, Harsh Mahajan as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha election on one seat in Himachal, going to polls on 27 February. 

 

Mahajan, who filed his nomination in the presence of senior BJP leaders in the forenoon and has a good base in Congress and had switched parties before the Assembly polls in 2022.
 
The ruling Congress has fielded senior leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi for the Rajya Sabha election, who will file a nomination later in the day.
