Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania said on Thursday that the party is fully prepared for the Rajya Sabha elections and confident of a positive outcome.
After a meeting with Legislators, Pathania said, “We had a meeting of legislators today, especially focused on tomorrow’s Rajya Sabha elections. We are hopeful of winning one seat and will fight strongly for the remaining two.”
He further added that all BJP legislators will strictly comply with the party line during the voting process.
“We will not go for horse trading or unconscious support, but we will consciously and willingly vote in line with our principles,” he said, adding, “We will defend our stance on all matters as per our belief and in the spirit of nationalism.”
Meanwhile, its main opponent and the ruling National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah, has started an outreach campaign seeking support from the Kashmir-based political parties ahead of Friday’s Rajya Sabha polls .
People’s Democratic Party Chief Mehbooba Mufti has offered support in return for three pending bills in the J&K Assembly.
Shortly after Omar Abdullah chaired a party meeting ahead of the J&K Assembly session that commenced on Thursday, Omar said he was hopeful that his party candidates would secure wins in all four vacant Rajya Sabha seats from J&K.
On Mufti’s comments to the NC president, Omar said, “She has assured that she will take the right decision after speaking to her party colleagues.”
