Bihar CM Nitish Kumar likely to jump ship again, might return to BJP-led NDA

Recent developments in Bihar have substance to sustain the claim. As per a source, CM Nitish Kumar is unsatisfied with his alliance partners— Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress. And if he is to move to the NDA then the previous governance structure of the BJP and Janata Dal (United) will be replicated.

Tension in Bihar mahagathbandhan (alliance) has surfaced again. Speculations are rife that might join the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance again. Sources claimed that Kumar might form a new government in the state in alliance with the NDA. A decision on the same will, reportedly, be confirmed by Kumar in two to three days.

However, recent developments in Bihar have substance to sustain the claim. As per a source, Kumar is unsatisfied with his alliance partners— Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress. And if he is to move to the NDA then the previous governance structure of the BJP and Janata Dal (United) will be replicated.

The RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya took to platform X to comment on Kumar’s ‘parivarvaad’ remark. This apparently offended the chief minister. Earlier, when the former chief minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur was being posthumously conferred the Bharat Ratna by the BJP-led central government, Kumar welcomed the move and asserted that Thakur never encouraged his family members to join the party. He was against parivarvaad. Murmurs in the political corridors indicate that Kumar trained his guns at the RJD with his comment. However, the leaders of Lalu’s party stood up in defence and claimed that the remark was for the BJP to show that all is well between the alliance partners.

Acharya’s now-deleted post on parivarvaad has set a different narrative in the zone of Bihar politics. Setting the tone high that all is not well between the JD(U) and RJD.

Moreover, reports also claim that Kumar is upset with the Congress too. The Grand Old Party’s inefficiency in tackling seat-sharing talks in Bihar and with other alliance partners has made Kumar question the stability of the INDI Alliance.

He appears to be antagonistic towards the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, too. In Kumar’s understanding, it is being done to reap political dividends for the Congress in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, sidelining other alliance partners, claimed sources.

Additionally, Kumar is, reportedly, not satisfied with the manner in which the INDI Alliance is progressing. Sources claim that Kumar has expressed his concern on the delay of seat sharing talks with the alliance partners and deciding the chairperson and convenor of the Alliance. Kumar was being considered for the post of the latter.

If speculations are sustained then on January 28, reportedly, Kumar will take oath as the ninth chief minister of Bihar, after forming an alliance with the BJP. And Sushil Modi will be crowned as the deputy chief minister.
