Harish Salve, former Solicitor General of India and King's counsel Senior Advocate, is set to represent the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) hearing scheduled for Friday. This hearing concerns the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat from the Paris Olympics.

 

Salve's extensive legal knowledge will be instrumental in addressing the legal and procedural aspects of the dispute.

 

The hearing for Vinesh Phogat's appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) is expected to commence at approximately 9:30 am Paris time, which translates to around 1 pm IST on August 9 (Friday). An interim verdict could be anticipated about an hour later.

 

This development serves as a significant boost for Vinesh Phogat and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) as the CAS, in its preliminary evaluation on Thursday, recognized the merit in Vinesh's plea for a joint silver medal in the women's 50kg wrestling and granted it.
