Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rajasthan and Gujarat on Saturday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth more than Rs 1.06 lakh crore, launch the Modified UDAN regional connectivity scheme and inaugurate a semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Gujarat.

The Prime Minister will begin his visit in Jodhpur, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport and formally launch the Modified UDAN Scheme aimed at expanding regional air connectivity across the country.

With a budgetary allocation of Rs 28,840 crore over the next decade, the revamped UDAN scheme seeks to develop 100 aerodromes from existing unserved airstrips, construct 200 helipads and provide continued viability gap funding to airlines operating regional routes. The programme also envisages the use of indigenous aircraft and helicopters, including HAL Dhruv and Dornier platforms, to improve connectivity in remote areas.

The newly built terminal at Jodhpur Airport has been developed at a cost of Rs 480 crore. Spread over more than 23,000 square metres, it can handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually and incorporates traditional Rajasthani architectural elements alongside sustainable features designed to achieve a five-star GRIHA rating.

Later in the day, the Prime Minister will travel to Balotra, where he will dedicate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects spanning petrochemicals, urban transport, railways, roads, renewable energy and power transmission.

A key highlight will be the dedication of India's first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra. Developed as a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Rajasthan government at an investment of more than Rs 79,450 crore, the 9 MMTPA refinery is expected to strengthen India's energy security and support downstream industries through an integrated petrochemical complex.

Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Rs 13,000-crore Jaipur Metro Phase II project, dedicate rail doubling works in Churu, inaugurate the four-laning of a section of National Highway-125A, dedicate major solar power projects in Bikaner and launch new power transmission infrastructure for the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone. He will also distribute appointment letters to around 54,000 newly recruited Rajasthan government employees.

In the evening, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility at Sanand in Gujarat. Developed with an investment of over Rs 7,500 crore under the India Semiconductor Mission, the facility will have the capacity to produce up to five billion semiconductor chips annually once fully operational. It is expected to serve the automotive, telecommunications, industrial, 5G and Internet of Things sectors, marking a significant step in India's efforts to build a self-reliant semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.
