With the arrival of Alexander Stubb, President of Finland, in the capital on Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that ties between the two countries are expected to reach new heights. President Stubb was given a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour on arrival. He was received at the airport by Minister of State for External Affairs V. K. Singh.
“Welcome to India, President Alexander Stubb. I fully agree with you, your visit will take India-Finland relations to new heights. I eagerly look forward to our meeting tomorrow and to your keynote address at the Raisina Dialogue 2026,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on X. Modi made the remarks in response to an earlier post by President Stubb, who had said he was travelling to India on a state visit.
“I will meet with President of India @rashtrapatibhvn and Prime Minister @narendramodi as well as other members of the state leadership. The visit will further strengthen the relations between Finland and India – including in the area of trade,” the Finland President wrote on X. President Stubb will attend the Raisina Dialogue 2026 as the Chief Guest and keynote speaker.
He will also hold talks with Modi, focusing on ways to deepen bilateral ties and discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.
