Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a slew of oil and gas sector projects worth approximately Rs 1.62 lakh crore across India, marking a significant stride towards bolstering the nation's energy security and economic resilience.
From Bihar's Begusarai district, the PM inaugurated projects spanning various states including Bihar, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Karnataka.
Addressing the occasion, PM Modi expressed his commitment to Bihar's development through the 'Viksit Bharat' program, citing Begusarai's rich potential and the resilience of its youth, farmers, and workers.
He highlighted the transformative impact of the unveiled projects, envisioning India's ascension as the world's third-largest economic powerhouse and heralding prosperity for Bihar.
The PM also flagged off four trains, including the Danapur-Jogbani Express (via Darbhanga–Sakri). Trains from Jogbani to Saharsa and Siliguri and Sonpur-Vaishali Express were also flagged off.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep S Puri, said, "Deeply privileged to witness the historic inauguration/laying foundation stones of 45 development projects worth Rs 1.62 lakh crore by PM Modi Ji from Begusarai today."
Among these projects, several initiatives worth about Rs 14,000 crore were taken up for Bihar.
Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were present on the occasion.
Additionally, the PM dedicated the 'First Oil' from the KG Basin and flagged off the maiden crude oil tanker from the ONGC Krishna Godavari deepwater project, underlining a push towards self-reliance in the oil and gas sector.
Accompanied by Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The event saw the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for a multitude of projects, including the Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) fertilizer plant in Barauni, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and financial stability for farmers.
Additionally, railway projects worth about Rs 3,917 crore were launched, promising improved connectivity and socio-economic development.
Furthermore, the unveiling of 'Bharat Pashudhan,' a digital database for livestock animals, and the '1962 Farmers App' marked significant strides towards empowering farmers with a traceability system and comprehensive data management tools.
