PM Modi Extends Best Wishes To Thailand's New Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to Paetongtarn Shinawatra on her election as the Prime Minister of Thailand. He wished her a very successful tenure and expressed eagerness to work closely with her to strengthen the ties between India and Thailand.

PM Modi shared his message on X, stating, "Congratulations @ingshin on your election as the Prime Minister of Thailand. Best wishes for a very successful tenure."

He also highlighted the importance of the civilizational, cultural, and people-to-people connections that underpin the bilateral relationship between the two nations and expressed his desire to further enhance these ties.

Earlier, Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn formally endorsed Paetongtarn Shinawatra as the country's new Prime Minister, following a series of significant developments in Thai politics.

Her appointment comes after the Constitutional Court ousted her predecessor, Srettha Thavisin, from the same Pheu Thai party.

With the king's approval, Paetongtarn Shinawatra is now set to begin the process of assembling her Cabinet, a task expected to take shape over the coming weeks.

At just 37 years old, she not only becomes Thailand's new leader but also the youngest-ever prime minister in the nation's history.

Known by her nickname Ung Ing, Paetongtarn is the youngest child of billionaire tycoon Thaksin Shinawatra and continues the family's legacy, being the third member to hold the country's highest office.

Her nomination was confirmed by the ruling coalition of her Pheu Thai party, marking a significant moment in Thailand's political landscape.
