Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his gratitude to Rishi Sunak for his efforts in strengthening the ties between India and the United Kingdom during his tenure as the UK Prime Minister.

In a heartfelt message, PM Modi acknowledged Sunak's leadership and his active role in deepening the relationship between the two nations. Modi extended his best wishes to Sunak and his family for the future, appreciating the positive impact he had during his time in office.

Rishi Sunak, the Conservative Party leader, conceded defeat in the recent UK general election. The Labour Party, under the leadership of Keir Starmer, secured a significant victory. This change marks the end of Sunak's tenure as Prime Minister.

Recently, Modi and Sunak met at the 50th G7 Summit in Italy’s Apulia. During their meeting, they reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UK.

 

Their conversation highlighted the robust relationship between the two countries and the mutual agreement that this relationship would continue to grow in the future.

 

Sunak had also taken the opportunity to congratulate PM Modi on the BJP-led NDA's third consecutive election victory in India. He emphasised the close friendship between the UK and India, expressing confidence that this bond would remain strong and continue to thrive.

 

In addition to their diplomatic interactions, Sunak had previously hailed India's rise as an economic superpower. He recognized the significant role of emerging economies like India, Indonesia, and Nigeria in reshaping the global economic landscape.
