Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged people to take precautions against extreme heat and remain hydrated as soaring temperatures continue to affect large parts of the country.
Speaking during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Modi advised citizens to exercise caution while stepping outdoors and follow heat-related safety guidelines issued by government agencies.
“With temperatures soaring across much of the country, it is important to take extra care. Stay hydrated. If you need to step out in the sun, do so cautiously and take necessary precautions,” the Prime Minister said.
He also stressed the importance of regularly drinking water and adhering to advisories issued by various government departments to minimise health risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
The appeal comes days after Modi issued a similar warning, asking people to take maximum precautions as several regions continue to witness intense summer conditions.

During the broadcast, the Prime Minister also spoke about India's diverse varieties of mangoes, describing the fruit as an integral part of the country's summer culture.
Referring to the popularity of mangoes across regions, Modi said every part of India has its own distinctive variety, aroma and taste. He mentioned Maharashtra's Alphonso (Hapus) and Gujarat's Kesar, along with Uttar Pradesh's Dussehri and Langra varieties.
He also highlighted mangoes from Bihar, including Chausa and Malda, and referred to popular southern varieties such as Banganapalli, Totapuri, Neelam and Malgova. Bengal's Himsagar and Suvarnarekha from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh also found mention in his address.
“The place changes, and so does the mango's form, colour and taste,” Modi said, noting that the fruit's journey is increasingly extending from Indian villages to international markets.
The Prime Minister's remarks came against the backdrop of continuing heatwave-like conditions in several parts of the country, prompting authorities to repeatedly advise people to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun and maintain adequate hydration levels.
