The INDIA bloc on Monday decided to write to the Chief Justice of India over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, while also demanding the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister over alleged irregularities in NEET and CBSE examinations.
Addressing a joint press conference after a meeting of Opposition leaders in the national capital, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said alliance partners had agreed to send a letter to the Chief Justice at the earliest, alleging electoral malpractice and “vote loot”.
“It was agreed to send a letter to the Chief Justice of India on SIR, vote loot and stealing elections. The letter is to be delivered to the Chief Justice of India very soon,” Kharge said.
The Opposition alliance also resolved to seek the resignation of the Education Minister, accusing the government of failing students who appeared for competitive and school-level examinations.
“It was unanimously agreed to demand the immediate resignation of the Education Minister because he presided over the betrayal of lakhs of youth who appeared for NEET and CBSE examinations,” Kharge said.
Outlining the bloc’s future strategy, Kharge announced that INDIA partners would meet every two months to review political developments and coordinate joint action. The next formal meeting of alliance leaders has been scheduled for August 8.

The bloc also decided to strengthen coordination during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. According to Kharge, alliance parties will hold regular strategy meetings at the office of the Leader of the Opposition to ensure a united approach on key issues.
He urged the Union government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss what he described as pressing concerns, including the economic situation, unemployment, inflation and issues affecting farmers.
Kharge said Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren joined the meeting virtually and endorsed the decisions taken by the alliance.
Ahead of the meeting, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav stressed the need for opposition unity and said the alliance was looking ahead to the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule alleged that the country was facing an economic crisis marked by inflation, unemployment and corruption.
Reacting to the meeting, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak dismissed the Opposition grouping, claiming the INDIA bloc had lost public support and was merely a gathering of leaders seeking power.
