The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday rejected claims circulating on social media about an alleged leak or sale of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination question paper, describing them as “false” and “fraudulent” and warning of strict action against those responsible.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the agency said messages claiming a “leak”, advance access or “sale” of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination paper were intended to mislead students and parents.

“The National Testing Agency (NTA) has noted certain messages circulating on social media and messaging platforms claiming a ‘leak’, advance access or ‘sale’ of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination question paper,” the agency said.

“These claims are false, fraudulent and intended to mislead,” it added.

The NTA alleged that organised cheating rackets were exploiting the anxiety of candidates and their families by offering fake question papers in exchange for money.

“Such content is the work of organised cheating rackets that prey on the anxiety of students and their families. Their objective is to extort money by selling fake ‘papers’, and every such claim circulating is a fabrication,” the agency said.

Reassuring candidates, the NTA said the integrity of the examination process remained intact and all safeguards were in place to ensure a fair and secure examination.

The agency said it was actively identifying offending accounts and channels and reporting them to social media platforms and cyber-crime authorities for immediate action. It also confirmed that formal complaints were being lodged with law-enforcement agencies.

The NTA warned that creating, circulating or forwarding fraudulent content designed to deceive candidates constituted a punishable offence and said strict action would be taken against those involved.

Candidates and parents have been advised not to engage with or pay for such material and to rely only on official communications issued through the agency's verified channels.

The original NEET-UG 2026 examination, conducted on May 3, was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of a paper leak. The matter is currently being investigated by the CBI, while the re-examination is scheduled to be held on June 21.
