Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced prize money of 1 crore for each player of the Indian Hockey team from the state. The announcement comes on Thursday after the Indian men's hockey team won a bronze medal at the Olympics.  

 

Writing on X, CM Mann stated, "As per our sports policy we will give ₹1 crore for each bronze medal players of Punjab..चक दे इंडिया." 

 

With this, the India earns its' fourth medal to their Paris Olympics tally. 

 

Since the 1972 Munich games, for the first time in 52 years, the Indian men's hockey team won two consecutive bronze medals. 

 

Emotions are high for the Indian team, especially for Sreejesh, who played his last match for the country. 

 

Meanwhile, the team is getting praises from all over the country. 

 

Congress leaders hailed the Indian men's hockey team, with chief Mallikarjun Kharge calling the achievement a "historic milestone".

 

"We are overjoyed to witness an exhilarating match where our talented hockey team has clinched a bronze medal in the Paris 2024 Olympics for the nation. This is a historic milestone because the last time India won a back to back Olympic medal in the game was in 1968 and 1972," Kharge said in a post on X.
