BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Accuses AAP Of Misleading Public Over Bail Grant.

After the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of misleading the public. She stated that Kejriwal's stubbornness is creating a policy paralysis and constitutional crisis in the national capital. The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal in a case related to the now-scrapped excise policy, registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Swaraj explained that Kejriwal was granted interim bail because a legal point has been referred to a larger bench. She mentioned that the ED had recently presented a detailed chargesheet naming Kejriwal as the kingpin of the excise policy scam.

According to her, the Supreme Court suggested that any constitutional functionary involved in such a crime should resign, but Kejriwal is refusing to step down. This, she claimed, is causing a policy paralysis and a constitutional crisis in Delhi.

She further argued that the Supreme Court has not provided any relief to Kejriwal, as the matter has been referred to a larger bench. Swaraj accused AAP of trying to misguide the public and the media by claiming that the court should declare his arrest illegal. However, she emphasised that no relief has been granted, and the issue will be addressed by a larger bench.

In contrast, AAP celebrated the Supreme Court's decision to grant Kejriwal interim bail, asserting that the BJP is conspiring against them. Delhi Minister Atishi accused the BJP of hatching a conspiracy to prevent Kejriwal from working for the people of Delhi.

She mentioned that Kejriwal had already been granted bail by the Rouse Avenue Court and was expected to receive bail from the Supreme Court as well. To thwart this, Atishi claimed, the BJP orchestrated Kejriwal's arrest by the CBI just before the bail hearing.

Atishi challenged the BJP to explain why Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI and urged them to end their arrogance. She asserted that the courts have repeatedly exposed the BJP's conspiracy and granted bail to Kejriwal, emphasising that truth can be troubled but not defeated.

A bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna referred Kejriwal's petition challenging his arrest by the ED to a larger bench. The Supreme Court, while granting interim bail, noted that Kejriwal had been incarcerated for 90 days and acknowledged his status as an elected leader. The court had reserved its verdict on Kejriwal's plea on May 17.

Previously, on April 9, the High Court dismissed Kejriwal's plea for release from jail, rejecting his argument of political vendetta. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering probe related to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
