Delhi Chief Minister, and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal knocked on the door of the Supreme Court, challenging High Court's ruling by the CBI in a corruption case stemming from the alleged excise policy scam, which upholds his arrest.

Delhi High Court had deemed Kejriwal's arrest lawful on August 5, citing the CBI's actions as justified to prevent witness intimidation. The court noted that Kejriwal's influence could have deterred witnesses from testifying, but for his arrest.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 and granted bail by the trial court on June 20 in the money laundering case. However, the High Court stayed the trial court's order. The Supreme Court later granted him interim bail on July 12.

The case stems from the alleged excise policy scam, which led to the policy's scrapping in 2022. The Delhi lieutenant governor had ordered a CBI probe into alleged irregularities and corruption involving the policy's formulation and execution. The CBI and ED allege that modifications to the policy involved undue favours to licence holders.

The High Court had directed Kejriwal to approach the trial court for regular bail, while upholding his arrest. Kejriwal's appeal in the Supreme Court challenges this decision.
