BJP National President and Union Health, Chemicals, and Fertilisers Minister JP Nadda is scheduled to visit Jammu on July 6 to address BJP's Extended UT Executive meeting.

This will be Nadda's first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to party sources, the meeting will take place at Mishriwala, with a preliminary session for BJP office bearers set for July 5 at the same location.

Nadda’s visit coincides with the birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, who is remembered for his efforts to abolish the permit system that prohibited Indians from settling within the state and mandating that they carry ID cards as well as the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India.

The meeting will include BJP's national general secretary and J&K in-charge Tarun Chugh, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, co-incharge J&K Ashish Sood, BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina, party General Secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, MP (LS) Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP (RS) Gulam Ali Khatana, and other

senior leaders.

Approximately 2,000 party members are expected to attend the meeting.

In preparation for the UT Executive meeting, BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina chaired a detailed meeting to finalise the arrangements.

The meeting aims to address issues due to which the party did not perform well in the recent elections and strategise on strengthening its base.

Additionally, the party will set the agenda for the executive committee meeting and finalise draft resolutions during the office bearers' meeting on July 5.

The selection of Dr Mookerjee's birth anniversary for the executive meeting is intended to pay tributes to his legacy, as he started a national movement from J&K for the complete merger with India.

The meeting will also discuss future party programmes in the UT, preparations for potential Assembly, local bodies, Municipal, and Panchayat elections, and the organisation of elections likely to be held in September.
