National Conference Provincial Joint Secretary Ankush Abrol on Sunday said that the National Conference will work to create jobs for the youth if it forms the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.

While interacting with youth from the city, Abrol assured them that the NC would leave no stone unturned for their cause. “NC has always worked for the youth, and its past governance in J&K is a testament to that,” he stated.

Criticising the BJP's "anti-public" and "anti-youth" policies, Abrol claimed that the promises made by the BJP have failed, leaving educated youth facing severe unemployment crisis.

“The administration is imposing tax after tax on the people but has failed to alleviate their sufferings, including skyrocketing prices of essential commodities,” he said, adding that the National Conference would oppose all anti-people policies and fight vigorously for justice.

Abrol also alleged that the smart city project, which involves the expenditure of crores of rupees, was a significant scandal.

“Everything is on paper, but on the ground, very little has been achieved despite the huge allocation of funds,” he claimed.

He also criticised the current government for rising costs of electricity despite which power supply was irregular.

“Despite the humid and hot weather, the present LG administration is not concerned about minimising public problems.

"Electricity scarcity leads to water scarcity due to regular interruptions in the water supply,” he added.

Dr Vikas Sharma, Coordinator of Jammu District (Urban) and Zonal Secretary, said the smart city projects instead of minimising the public inconvenience had aggravated them.

He said, “Various taxes are being imposed under the pretext of providing amenities, but there is no one to address public grievances. Therefore, the public is urged to use their vote wisely in the upcoming assembly elections.”
