India France Australia Pledge Rules Based Indo Pacific.

India, France, and Australia have once again emphasised their dedication to maintaining a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. This reaffirmation came during a virtual meeting where the three countries reviewed the progress made under the three primary pillars of their trilateral cooperation: maritime safety and security, marine and environmental cooperation, and multilateral engagement.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement highlighting the collaborative efforts made in these areas. It was noted that significant progress has been achieved, particularly in enhancing maritime safety and security.

Additionally, efforts in marine and environmental cooperation have been successful, ensuring the protection of the maritime environment through joint initiatives.

The countries also discussed multilateral engagement, which includes working together in various international forums to promote stability and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

As part of these discussions, they identified new proposals to further enhance their trilateral cooperation. These proposals fall under frameworks such as the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

An important aspect of the trilateral discussions was the focus on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR). Recognizing the frequent natural disasters in the Indo-Pacific region, the three nations underscored the importance of cooperation in disaster response and relief efforts. By pooling resources and expertise, they aim to improve their collective ability to respond swiftly and effectively to humanitarian crises.

The MEA spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared insights from the discussions on social media. He mentioned that the virtual meeting covered three key areas to boost cooperation: maritime safety and security, marine and environmental cooperation, and multilateral engagement. These areas are crucial for the stability and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region.

This recent meeting builds on the foundation laid during the second India-France-Australia Trilateral Focal Points Meeting held last year. At that time, the three nations identified several key projects to be initiated in the following months. These projects were aimed at enhancing trilateral cooperation and addressing common challenges in the Indo-Pacific.

The renewed commitment and identification of new initiatives demonstrate the ongoing dedication of India, France, and Australia to work together for a stable and secure Indo-Pacific.

Their collaborative efforts are not only aimed at addressing immediate concerns but also at building a long-term strategic partnership that benefits all countries in the region.

The virtual meeting of the India-France-Australia Trilateral Focal Points has reaffirmed the strong ties and shared goals among the three nations. By focusing on maritime safety, environmental protection, and multilateral engagement, they aim to create a more secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

The new proposals and initiatives discussed during the meeting are expected to further strengthen their cooperation and address emerging challenges in the region. As these countries continue to work together, their collective efforts will play a crucial role in maintaining peace, stability, and sustainable development in the Indo-Pacific.
