HM Amit Shah Blames INDI Alliance for Hindering Refugee Justice.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised the INDI Alliance on Sunday, stating that their focus on appeasement politics has prevented justice from being served to Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain refugees seeking citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Amit Shah made these remarks while distributing citizenship certificates to refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in Ahmedabad. Shah emphasised that the CAA is not merely a law to grant citizenship but also a measure to provide justice and rights to millions who have faced persecution in neighbouring countries.

He blamed the Congress party and its allies for neglecting these refugees from 1947 to 2014, arguing that their appeasement politics failed to deliver justice to those who were mistreated due to their religious identity.

He further explained that the partition of India was based on religion, leading to widespread violence and persecution. Many Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists who lived in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan suffered greatly, with some families being completely wiped out. Shah accused the Congress party of failing to keep its promise to grant citizenship to these refugees, opting instead to protect its vote bank.

The Home Minister also reaffirmed the BJP's commitment to implementing the CAA, a promise made during the 2014 elections. Although the CAA was passed in 2019, its implementation has been delayed due to what Shah described as misinformation spread by opposition parties.

He insisted that the CAA does not strip anyone of their citizenship but is meant to protect minorities who have been marginalised in neighbouring countries.

Shah noted that in his own state, 128 families have already received Indian citizenship. He also pointed out the drastic decline in the Hindu population in Bangladesh, from 27% during the country's creation to 9% today, attributing this to forced conversions and persecution.

In addition to addressing the CAA, Shah inaugurated several development projects in Ahmedabad, including an Oxygen Park and a lake. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was also present at the event.

Shah urged the people of Ahmedabad to participate in a tree-planting campaign initiated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, which aims to plant 30 lakh trees in 100 days.

He encouraged citizens to plant trees in the name of their mothers, as part of a broader effort to combat environmental challenges such as climate change and global warming.
