Heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions disrupted flight operations in Delhi and Mumbai on Tuesday, prompting major airlines to issue travel advisories and urge passengers to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport. With the monsoon intensifying across several parts of the country, flight schedules have been affected, leading to delays and the possibility of further disruptions at both airports.

IndiGo said unfavourable weather conditions over Delhi had impacted flight operations and advised passengers to factor in additional travel time while commuting to the airport due to traffic congestion caused by persistent rainfall. The airline added that its operations teams were closely monitoring the evolving weather situation to ensure the safety of passengers and maintain operational efficiency.

Air India also warned that adverse weather could affect flights arriving at and departing from the national capital. The airline urged travellers to verify the latest status of their flights before setting out for the airport in order to avoid inconvenience.

SpiceJet issued a similar advisory, cautioning that heavy rain in both Delhi and Mumbai could disrupt arrivals, departures and connecting flights. The airline advised passengers to remain updated through its official communication channels and plan their travel accordingly.

The travel disruptions come as monsoon showers continue to affect normal life across several regions of the country, impacting road, rail and air transport. Weather conditions have remained unstable over the past few days, with intermittent heavy rainfall resulting in waterlogging and slower traffic movement in several areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi-NCR is expected to witness cloudy skies, light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next few days. Meanwhile, Mumbai continues to experience heavy rain, leading to weather-related disruptions in transportation and daily commuting.

Airlines have advised passengers to closely monitor flight updates, allow extra time to reach the airport and stay informed through official airline notifications before beginning their journey, as weather conditions may continue to affect flight schedules at short notice.
