New Portal 'Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman' To Boost Citizen Engagement With Constitution.

The "Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman" campaign aims to enhance citizen participation and awareness regarding the Indian Constitution and legal rights. This initiative is part of the Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice (DISHA) scheme, implemented by the Department of Justice under the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India.

On July 16, 2024, the second regional event of this campaign will take place at the Allahabad Medical Association Convention Centre in Prayagraj. This event marks the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, a significant milestone for India as a Republic.

During the event, pro bono advocates from the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad will be recognized for their vital contributions to promoting pro bono services.

These advocates are part of the Nyaya Bandhu programme, which encourages legal professionals to provide free legal assistance to those in need. Their efforts have inspired many lawyers to engage in pro bono work, thereby enhancing access to justice for marginalised communities.

A key highlight of the event will be the launch of the "Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman" portal. This online platform aims to serve as a comprehensive knowledge repository. It will provide citizens with easy access to important information about the Constitution and their legal rights.

The portal will also showcase the activities conducted under the campaign, including educational resources and an event calendar. Its design will focus on making the learning process interactive and engaging, promoting a community-based approach to understanding constitutional rights.

The event will be attended by approximately 800 participants, including advocates, judicial officers, government representatives, law students, and citizens. Notable attendees will include Arun Ram Meghwal, the Minister of State for Law and Justice, and Justice Arun Bhansali, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad.

The event will also have a digital component, allowing citizens and stakeholders from various locations to participate online. The "Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman" campaign was officially launched on January 24, 2024, by the Vice-President of India at the Dr. BR Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.

The campaign's primary objective is to enhance understanding of the Constitution and raise awareness about citizens' legal rights. To achieve this, regional events are being organised to encourage wider participation and inclusivity across different states.

The first regional event was held in Bikaner, Rajasthan, on March 9, 2024, inaugurated by the Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud. These events play a crucial role in fostering a culture of legal awareness and empowering citizens with the knowledge they need to advocate for their rights.

Through initiatives like the "Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman" campaign, the government is making significant strides toward promoting justice and ensuring that citizens are informed about their rights.

By engaging communities and utilising digital platforms, this campaign aims to create a more informed and participatory society where everyone can contribute to the democratic process.

As the campaign continues, it is expected to reach more individuals and empower them to understand and uphold their constitutional rights. The upcoming event in Prayagraj is a testament to the government's commitment to promoting legal literacy and ensuring that every citizen can access justice effectively.
