Guwahati is set to witness a historic first as the 93rd Air Force Day celebrations will be held in Assam on November 9, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attending the event. The celebrations mark the inaugural staging of Air Force Day in the North Eastern Region, following previous editions in Chandigarh (2022), Prayagraj (2023), and Chennai (2024), which drew crowds of approximately 1 lakh, 10 lakh, and 15 lakh, respectively.

The main event, scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., will feature a full-scale aerial display by the Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) over the River Brahmaputra. Preparatory events include an exclusive show for school students (Classes 9–12) on November 6, a full dress rehearsal on November 8, and the main display on November 9, according to a post on X by Assam Chief Secretary.

“Several vantage points are being finalised along both banks of the Brahmaputra from Saraighat Bridge towards Guwahati city, including the newly developed 1.2 km riverfront at Uzan Bazar,” the post added.

Authorities convened an important coordination meeting on Wednesday with the Indian Air Force, led by AOC Kanchan Kumar, alongside all relevant State Government departments. Officials underscored that the scale of the event necessitates meticulous planning covering infrastructure readiness, security, traffic and crowd management, publicity, and logistics.

All stakeholders have been directed to finalise action plans in close coordination with the Air Force and the District Administration, ensuring preparations are completed well in advance. Organisers expect massive public turnout, with skies above the Brahmaputra poised to come alive with a spectacular aerial display, a moment that is being hailed as a source of pride for Assam.
