The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has invited nominations for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2026, a national award that recognises exceptional achievements by children aged between five and 18 years.

According to an official statement issued on Thursday, the last date for submitting nominations is July 31, 2026. The award honours children for outstanding contributions in six categories — bravery, social service, environment, sports, art and culture, and science and technology.

The ministry said the award celebrates the “exceptional resilience, courage, creativity, and indomitable spirit” of young achievers and aims to inspire other children to strive for excellence.

The awards will be presented by the President of India at a special ceremony in New Delhi on December 26, observed as Veer Bal Diwas.

To be eligible, nominees must be Indian citizens residing in the country and should be between five and 18 years of age as on July 31, 2026. Children who have previously received the award in any category are not eligible. The achievement, act or contribution being considered must have taken place within two years of the nomination deadline.

The award comprises a medal, a certificate and a citation. Around 25 awards are conferred annually to recognise exceptional bravery and excellence in the designated fields.

Since its launch in 2019, the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar has honoured 203 children from across the country for their remarkable achievements and contributions.

The ministry said nominations may be submitted by individuals, institutions or through self-nomination. Recommendations are also invited from central ministers, chief ministers, governors, lieutenant governors, Members of Parliament, ministries, state and Union Territory governments, district magistrates and educational institutions.

Applicants must submit their entries through the national awards portal, along with personal details, a recent photograph, supporting documents and a description of the achievement and its impact in not more than 1,000 words.

Describing the award as “more than a medal and a citation”, the ministry said it reflects the nation’s recognition of the courage, creativity and compassion displayed by India’s young changemakers.
