Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday paid glowing tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar, Dr Rajendra Prasad and every member of the Constituent Assembly on the occasion of Constitution Day, emphasising that the Indian Constitution guarantees equal opportunities and rights to every citizen and lays a strong foundation for nation-building.
In a message on 'X' in Hindi, Shah said, "On this Constitution Day, | pay homage to Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji, along with all the great members of the Constituent Assembly, and extend my heartfelt greetings to the fellow citizens." "The Constitution of India, the world's largest democracy, provides every citizen with equal opportunities, a life of dignity, national duties, and rights, thereby paving the way for strong nation-building," he wrote.
The Home Minister also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role, saying that it was Modi who initiated the celebration of Constitution Day and has consistently worked to deepen citizens’ awareness of democratic values and the significance of the Constitution.
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is observed every year on November 26 to mark the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. It was officially declared as Constitution Day by the Government of India in 2015.
