BJP National President JP Nadda pays respects to late party leaders at the inauguration of the event.

A large meeting of around 11,500 BJP members from all over the country will start on Saturday. Led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party's top leaders will discuss their campaign plans for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

This gathering, called the 'national council' meeting, will be the biggest organisational event for the ruling party in recent times. It aims to energise party members for the elections. Before the main meeting, the party's national leaders will have a separate meeting to finalise the agenda.

The meeting will kick off with BJP president JP Nadda's opening speech, followed by Prime Minister Modi's closing speech on Sunday. Modi is expected to outline the party's campaign strategy and urge members to work towards winning 370 seats in the elections.

The venue, Bharat Mandapam, will host chief ministers, state ministers, BJP state unit presidents, and organisational leaders from across the country. Representatives from district bodies and various groups will also attend.

Traditionally, such meetings have had around 3,000 attendees in the past 10 years. Two resolutions are expected to be passed, focusing on political issues and the economy.

Key topics likely to be discussed include the economy, the construction of the Ram temple, the state of the opposition, the G20 Summit, and India's global standing. The government's welfare initiatives and Prime Minister Modi's focus on empowering women, youth, the poor, and farmers will also be highlighted.

Observers will watch for discussions on electoral bonds, deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, and ongoing farmer protests, primarily from Punjab.

The BJP aims to replicate its electoral success from previous meetings, with confidence that this convention will pave the way for winning 370 seats in the 543-member House.

Prime Minister Modi has even expressed the expectation that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance will secure over 400 seats.
