Ayodhya urges devotees to celebrate Ram Navami at home, plan temple visit later

As the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami approaches, the district administration in Ayodhya is urging devotees to celebrate the festival at their homes this year, citing limited capacity to accommodate visitors at the temple town.

District Magistrate Nitish Kumar has appealed to devotees nationwide to observe Ram Navami, which marks the birth of Shri Ram, in their respective locales, advising them to defer their pilgrimage to Ayodhya for a later date.

"Whether in bustling metropolises or quaint villages, we encourage people to celebrate the festival with fervor in their own communities and plan their visit to Ayodhya for a time when they can conveniently have darshan of Shri Ram," Kumar stated.

Ram Navami falls on April 17 this year, and the Ayodhya administration is bracing for what could be the largest congregation ever, with officials expecting over 50 lakh pilgrims on that day.

The District Magistrate said the administration is mulling over setting up multiple entry and exit points for devotees at the Ram temple complex.

The Ram temple trust will make arrangements for drinking water and durries on the open floors, in view of rising temperatures.

The district administration will ensure regular supplies of foodgrains, vegetables, milk etc, for eateries, dharmshalas and temple kitchens.
