Army Reports Terrorist Plot Against Amarnath Yatra.

Days after thwarting an infiltration attempt at the Line of Control (LOC) in North Kashmir, security forces said that three heavily armed foreign terrorists were killed. The effort to infiltrate was successfully stopped, preventing potential terrorist activities in the region.

Reports indicate that terrorists were planning to disrupt the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in the Kashmir valley.

Brigadier N. L. Kulkarni, Commander of the 268 Brigade, informed that the terrorists were equipped with advanced weapons and training.

During a press conference in North Kashmir, senior Army officers and Jammu and Kashmir Police officials said that recent intelligence had indicated the presence of terrorists at launchpads opposite the Keran sector in Kupwara district.

"The intelligence suggested that terrorists were planning to infiltrate and disrupt normalcy, particularly targeting the Amarnath Yatra," Brigadier Kulkarni explained. He added that troops had been actively monitoring the area along the LOC for weeks.

On July 12, specific intelligence pointed to a mixed group of foreign terrorists attempting infiltration through the Keran sector.

In response, the Army, BSF, and JK Police set up multiple ambushes on the night of July 13-14. The movement of three terrorists was observed in an area controlled by the Pakistan Army around 3 PM on Sunday.

"The terrorists exploited thick foliage and poor visibility to cross the LOC and move toward the fence. They were engaged with precise fire well before reaching the fence," Brigadier Kulkarni said.

After the firefight, a thorough search revealed a substantial amount of military supplies. "The immediate and effective response by our forces foiled the adversary's plan to infiltrate and disturb the peace," he added.

In recent months, security forces have successfully prevented several infiltration attempts at the LOC in North Kashmir.

While security forces battle severe terrorist attacks in Kathua, Doda, Reasi, and Rajouri in the Jammu region, experts suggest these are well-coordinated plans.

Terrorists engage security forces in Jammu while exploiting vulnerabilities in the Kashmir valley.

Currently, an encounter is underway in the Doda district, resulting in the deaths of four army personnel, with the operation still ongoing.
