An all-women tri-services contingent from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force is all set to march down the Kartavya Path in New Delhi for the Republic Day Parade. This marks the first time such a contingent will participate, showcasing the seamless integration of India's armed forces.

Captain Sandhya, a 26-year-old officer leading the contingent, expressed her pride and gratitude for the opportunity. "It is a proud moment for me as well as every member of the team," she shared after a practice session.

The 148-member contingent, composed mostly of Agniveers and regular recruits, has been staying in Delhi since early December, undergoing rigorous preparation for this historic occasion. The team practiced at their respective locations for two months before joining together in Delhi.

Despite variations in drills and procedures among the three services, the contingent trained as a cohesive unit with a common goal. "The goal is to give our best and emanate Nari Shakti in every step we march," Captain Sandhya explained.

She acknowledged the initial challenges faced by women soldiers from the Navy and Air Force due to differences in drills and procedures but highlighted their dedication and readiness for the upcoming full dress rehearsal on January 23.

Captain Sandhya emphasised the significant role women play in the nation's progress and underscored the limitless potential of women in the defence services. "This is the first time that women soldiers from three defence services will march on the Kartavya Path in the Republic Day parade," she noted.

Officials revealed that the 75th Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path on January 26 would prominently feature women, aligning with the central theme of India's democracy and its commitment to becoming a developed nation.

Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane highlighted that 100 women artists with Indian musical instruments would lead the parade, and women marching contingents would constitute a major portion.

"This year's Republic Day Parade will be women-centric, with the themes of 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka,'" stated Defence Secretary Aramane.

Special guests attending the parade will include women space scientists from ISRO, yoga teachers from Ayushman Bharat, and winners of international sports events and Paralympic medalists.

The inclusion of these diverse women showcases India's commitment to recognising and celebrating women's achievements across various fields.
