Congress leader and lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi is the Congress candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat from Himachal Pradesh, with the All India Congress Committee President, Mallikarjun Kharge approving his nomination.

 

Singhvi will file his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha tomorrow (15 February) and is likely to be elected unopposed as BJP has not fielded anyone so far, keeping with its numbers in Vidhan Sabha compared to the ruling Congress.

 

The state Congress had earlier requested Congress President Sonia Gandhi to file her nomination for Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh. However, she is the party nominee for Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.

 

Congress Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu congratulated Singhvi for Rajya Sabha's candidature from Himachal.

 

One of the three Rajya Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh is falling vacant on April 2, 2024, following the completion of BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda's tenure.
