2 women among 12 MPs selected for Sansad Ratna awards 2026

The Jury committee has selected 10 Lok Sabha MPs, 2 Rajya Sabha MPs, and 4 Parliamentary Standing Committees for the Sansad Ratna Awards 2026.Pune’s BJP MP in the Rajya Sabha Medha Kulkarni and Jalgaon MP Smita Uday Wagh are the two women parliamentarians who have been selected for the award this year.

Prestigious Sansad Ratna awards for the year 2026 have been announced and among the proud recipients  are two women Parliamentarians.  As many as 12 MPs and four parliamentary committees have been selected for this year’s Sansad Ratna Awards by a private organisation.

 

Pune’s BJP MP in the Rajya Sabha Medha Kulkarni and Jalgaon MP Smita Uday Wagh are the two women parliamentarians who have been selected for the Sansad Ratna Awards this year.The Jury committee has selected 10 Lok Sabha MPs, 2 Rajya Sabha MPs, and 4 Parliamentary Standing Committees for the Sansad Ratna Awards 2026. “This year we will be presenting the 150th Award in July, “Adv. Priyadharshni Rahul, Chairperson of the Sansad Ratna Awards Committee said.

 

“Jagdambika Pal (Uttar Pradesh), P.P. Chaudhary (Rajasthan), Nishikant Dubey (Jharkhand) and Dr Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Maharashtra) are among the MPs chosen in the individual category,” she added.In a statement, the Prime Point Foundation said BJP’s Jagdambika Pal (Uttar Pradesh), P P Chaudhary (Rajasthan), Nishikant Dubey (Jharkhand) and Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Maharashtra) are among the MPs chosen in the individual category.


Praveen Patel (Uttar Pradesh), Bidyut Baran Mahato (Jharkhand), Lumbaram Chaudhary (Rajasthan), Hemant Vishnu Savara (Maharashtra), Smita Uday Wagh (Maharashtra), Naresh Ganpat Mhaske (Maharashtra), Medha Vishram Kulkarni (Maharashtra), and Narhari Amin (Gujarat) have been recognised for outstanding performance in Parliament up to the end of the Budget session this year under various categories.


Four Parliamentary Committees have also won awards for their outstanding performance. These are the Committee on Agriculture chaired by Charanjit Singh Channi, the Finance Committee chaired by Bhartruhari Mahtab, the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Committee chaired by Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka and the Coal and Mines Committee chaired by Anurag Thakur.


Out of the award winners, Pal and Channi are former chief ministers, and Amin is a former deputy Chief Minister. 
The Sansad Ratna Awards are non-governmental honors established in 2010 by the Chennai-based NGO Prime Point Foundation on the suggestion of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. They recognize top-performing Members of Parliament (MPs) and Parliamentary Committees for their performance.

 

It’s objectiveTo honor and motivate the best-performing Members of Parliament and  to promote parliamentary excellence through healthy competition and accountability. Winners are selected based on objective data such as attendance, the number of debates initiated, questions raised, Private Members' Bills introduced, and the overall performance of Parliamentary Standing Committees.

 

An eminent jury panel comprising senior parliamentarians and members of civil society evaluates the data, which is sourced from official records of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariats and PRS Legislative  Awards are divided into individual categories (including "Special Awards" for consistent long-term contributions) and Parliamentary Committee categories.
