Donald Trump to review Iran’s 14-point peace plan amid tensions, rising Lebanon toll, and economic strain in Tehran.

US President Donald Trump has said he will soon review Iran’s latest 14-point peace proposal, but expressed uncertainty about reaching a deal with Tehran. Following his remarks, this latest proposal comes after Iran sent a fresh 14-point plan to the US, calling for guarantees of non-aggression, lifting of the naval blockade, and an end to the war “on all fronts”, including in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, in response to the ongoing diplomatic exchanges, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it is ready to return to war with the US, claiming that Washington is not committed to any agreements or treaties.

While the two sides continue a war of words at the diplomatic level, Israeli forces have kept up the bombardment of Lebanese cities, killing several people and damaging a Catholic building in Yaroun.

The death toll in Lebanon has reached 2,659 since March 2026. When asked about the prospect of renewed war, Trump said if Iran “misbehaves” or does “something terrible”, there is a “possibility it could happen”. But right now, “we’ll see," he added.

Trump further said Iran is “having a hard time figuring out who their leader is”, claiming that their former leader, Ali Khamenei, “is gone”.

Meanwhile, surging commodity prices and rising joblessness are putting additional pressure on the Iranian economy amid the ongoing conflict with the US.

Iranians had to pay significantly more for food, medicine, cars, electrical devices, and petrochemical products on Saturday, the first working day of the week.
