The United States is looking to exit the peace talks with Iran, sources close to the Iranian delegation claimed on Sunday.
“The United States negotiating team needed talks for their lost face in the international arena and were unwilling to lower their expectations despite the defeat and stalemate in the war with Iran,” the sources added.
“Iran has no plans for the next round of talks,” they added.
Sources close to the development said, “Various issues, including the Strait of Hormuz, nuclear rights, and other issues, have been among the points of contention."
Meanwhile, the delegation has also told sources that “Iran is in no hurry to negotiate with the United States since it showed as much leniency as possible in the talks, while the US didn’t show genuine intentions.”
Furthermore, they said the US once again miscalculated the negotiations, just as it had done in the war, and warned that nothing would change in the Strait of Hormuz “until the United States agrees to a reasonable agreement”. Besides, no dates or venues have been set for a possible next round of talks.
Furthermore, representatives of Human Rights Watch have now verified Israel’s use of white phosphorus in Lebanon while civilians remain on edge. Israel, according to Human Rights Watch, conducted a double-tap strike in Lebanon, killing 13 people.
While Donald Trump’s pressure on the Israeli Prime Minister seems to have been working well in the capital, residents of southern Lebanon are constantly facing escalatory military strikes by Israeli defence forces.
Civilians are desperate for a cessation in the fighting. The humanitarian situation is catastrophic, with more than one million people displaced. The Lebanese Prime Minister has postponed his scheduled visit to the US next week, citing internal circumstances. And Hezbollah, which is actually one of the parties to this conflict, has opposed direct talks with Israel entirely.
