Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to China from May 23 to May 26, during which he is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.

According to Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, the visit holds special significance as both countries are jointly marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He said the trip underscores the long-standing and strategic nature of Pakistan-China ties, which both sides describe as an 'all-weather' partnership.

The visit was also confirmed a day earlier by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun in Beijing, who said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would travel at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang.

Spokesperson Andrabi said the visit would provide an important opportunity for both sides to reaffirm the strength of bilateral relations and further advance their shared vision of building a closer Pakistan-China community with a common future.

During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif is expected to hold detailed meetings with China’s top leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The discussions will focus on reviewing the full spectrum of bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in political, economic, and strategic areas.

Officials said both sides are likely to assess ongoing collaboration under major development frameworks, as well as explore new avenues for investment, trade, infrastructure development, and regional connectivity. The talks are also expected to strengthen political trust and deepen strategic coordination between the two countries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will begin his visit in Hangzhou, located in China’s Zhejiang province, where he is scheduled to chair the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business (B2B) Investment Conference. The forum is expected to bring together business leaders and investors from both countries to explore new commercial opportunities.

In Beijing, the Prime Minister will also attend a special reception hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The visit is being viewed as an important diplomatic engagement aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties at a time when both countries continue to emphasize closer economic integration and strategic cooperation.
