Former US President Donald Trump has announced JD Vance as his nominee for Vice President. Trump, the expected Republican nominee for the upcoming presidential election, made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social.

 

JD Vance, a first-time senator from Ohio, is 39 years old, making him 40 years younger than Trump. He brings a diverse background to the ticket, including military service, a successful business career, and authorship of a best-selling book.

 

Vance served in the US Marine Corps and later graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio State University in just two years. He also holds a degree from Yale Law School, where he was the Editor of The Yale Law Journal and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association.

 

Vance gained national recognition for his memoir, "Hillbilly Elegy," which was both a major bestseller and adapted into a movie. The book resonated with many for its portrayal of the struggles and resilience of the working-class American families.

 

Trump praised Vance's diverse career and dedication to American workers and farmers in his announcement. He highlighted Vance’s military service, academic achievements, and his business success in technology and finance.

 

Trump emphasised that Vance will focus on advocating for the American workers and farmers in key states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Minnesota during the campaign.

 

The selection of Vance as Vice President was also supported by Trump’s inner circle, particularly his son Don Trump Jr., who described Vance as an "incredible" choice.

 

This move adds a fresh and dynamic presence to Trump’s campaign, potentially appealing to a broader voter base with Vance's background and achievements.
