Ukraine pulls back from fortified positions amid Russian assault.

Russian forces have intensified operations in two key strategic locations, Odesa and Mykolaiv in Eastern Ukraine, while announcing the capture of three more settlements in the past two days.

Russian defence experts predict massive Russian advances towards Odesa and Myokaliv After making significant gains in Kherson. The simultaneous assaults on the entire front lines have forced Ukrainian troops to pull back from the earlier fortified positions along the battle lines.

Earlier, the head of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, announced the start of an operation to reclaim the city. He said Russian troops have already established control in the industrial zone on the left bank of the Dnipro River along with nearby suburban settlements.

The Russian ministry of defence (MOD) also stated that Kherson’s liberation is only a matter of time. At the same time, the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions would eventually see freedom from Ukrainian occupation.

There are fears that Ukrainian forces might launch a counteroffensive against the advancing Russian troops in some vulnerable parts where Ukraine maintains enough military forces.

In 2022 as part of its defence strategy, Ukraine destroyed the critical infrastructure, including bridges, roads, and dams, to prevent Moscow’s blitzkrieg-style operation.

Additionally, the Ukrainian forces flooded the majority of the agricultural land along the Russian border to create a temporary buffer zone between the two fighting forces.

Meanwhile, On Tuesday, Russian forces claimed that they had thwarted a major drone attack launched by Ukrainian forces on multiple Russian cities.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, a total of 55 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Ukrainian territory were destroyed or intercepted within several hours.

It said 34 Kamikaze drones were shot down over the Rostov Region, six in the Voronezh Region, three over the Krasnodar Territory, and three more above the Lipetsk Region. It also said that seven drones were shot down above the black sea, and two more were destroyed over Crimea.
