Amid the widening war in West Asia, Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and discussed Iranian aggression against the Kingdom, according to a statement from the Saudi Defence Ministry on Saturday.
The talks were held within the framework of the strategic defence agreement that the two brotherly countries signed in 2025.
"Both sides expect that the Iranian side will exercise restraint and halt its attacks on Saudi Arabia to avoid misguided calculations,” the ministry said.
Pakistan, which maintains good relations with Iran, has not condemned strikes on other regional countries but has expressed its support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Tehran on Saturday confirmed that it launched a fresh wave of drones and missiles at Israel after Tel Aviv and the United States carried out bombings in Tehran targeting civilian areas, schools, and hospitals on Friday night.
The United States, the primary backer of Israel, has approved a possible sale of munitions and military equipment to the Netanyahu government worth $151.8 million.
This was confirmed by the State Department on Saturday, after Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, "An emergency exists that requires the immediate sale to the Government of Israel.”
"This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a strategic regional partner that has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East,” the statement added.
On the other hand, Iran has begun replacing quantity with quality in its missiles, launching its first fourth-generation cluster munition-carrying bombs, such as the Khorramshahr-4 (Kheibar), to target Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport and Tel Aviv, surprising many Western analysts with the presence of such advanced and deadly technology in Iran.
