In the wake of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed a resolute response, asserting that Israel is prepared for any scenario, both defensively and offensively.

Netanyahu's statement follows Iran's launch of drone and missile attacks on Israel, purportedly in retaliation for an Israeli air strike on its consulate in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of three senior Iranian military figures.

Netanyahu emphasised Israel's readiness for direct attacks from Iran, stating that the country has been preparing defensively and offensively for such scenarios for years.

He underscored the strength of Israel's defence systems and military, reassuring the public of the nation's resilience in the face of threats. Netanyahu also expressed gratitude for the support of allies such as the United States, Britain, France, and other nations.

The Israeli Prime Minister reiterated a clear principle of deterrence, asserting that Israel would respond to any harm inflicted upon it. He urged Israeli citizens to follow directives from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Home Front Command, emphasising unity and determination in confronting adversaries.

Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed its launch of an attack on Israel, citing retaliation for the Israeli strike on its consulate in Damascus. The IRGC stated its intention to target specific locations in Israel with drones and missiles, heightening tensions in the region.

In response to the escalating situation, President Joe Biden's administration has been closely monitoring developments. The White House announced that President Biden would convene with his national security team to discuss the situation. The administration reiterated its unwavering support for Israel's security, affirming ongoing communication with Israeli officials and other partners.

As Netanyahu convenes his war cabinet and Biden receives updates from his national security team, the situation remains fluid, with concerns about further escalation and the potential for broader conflict.

Both Israel and Iran have issued strong statements, signalling their readiness to defend their interests amidst heightened tensions in the region. The international community watches closely, hoping for de-escalation and diplomatic solutions to prevent further violence.
