The Miss World 2024 beauty pageant took an inspiring detour as six contestants, accompanied by Julia Morley, the chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, paid homage to Dr K B Hedgewar at Reshimbagh.

Dr Hedgewar, the founder of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), received heartfelt tributes from the beauty queens, underscoring the significance of his legacy.

The visit to the Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir on Thursday was a poignant moment, where the contestants also paid respects to M S Golwalkar, the second chief of the RSS.

Captured in pictures shared on the Instagram account of Miss World, the visit reflected a deeper understanding of Dr Hedgewar's humanitarian vision and the impactful activities of the RSS.

India is gearing up to host the 71st Miss World pageant in Mumbai on March 9, marking the second time the country is hosting this prestigious event since 1996. The forthcoming event promises to be a celebration of beauty, culture, and global solidarity, showcasing the diverse talents and grace of women from around the world.

The first Miss World pageant held in India in 1996 was not without its controversies. Organized by Amitabh Bachchan’s company ABCL in Bangalore, the event sparked debates and protests, reflecting the country's evolving socio-political landscape amidst economic liberalization.

It symbolized the tensions between tradition and modernity, nationalism and globalization, and commodification of beauty. In the context of India's burgeoning global presence and economic growth, hosting the Miss World pageant signifies more than just a beauty contest.

It represents a strategic opportunity for India to showcase its cultural richness, hospitality, and potential for global investment. The event aligns with India's aspirations to position itself as a key player on the world stage, attracting attention from international audiences and investors alike.

Moreover, the participation of Miss World contestants in activities like paying homage to national figures underscores the spirit of cultural exchange and appreciation.

It highlights the significance of acknowledging and respecting diverse ideologies and legacies, bridging boundaries through shared experiences and mutual respect.

In essence, the Miss World pageant serves as a platform for promoting cross-cultural understanding, empowerment of women, and appreciation of beauty in all its forms.

As India prepares to welcome the world for this grand event, it reaffirms its commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and the celebration of human potential.
