A tragic shooting incident in British Columbia has claimed the life of 28-year-old Yuvraj Goyal, an Indo-Canadian man originally from Ludhiana, Punjab.

The broad daylight attack, which took place earlier this week in Surrey, prompted a swift response from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Despite their efforts, they were unable to save Goyal.

Goyal moved to Canada in 2019 on a student visa and had been working diligently at a car dealership in Surrey. "He was known for his hardworking nature", said Jaspreet Saggu, a member of the Indian diaspora in Canada.

The police are treating this case as a homicide. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) quickly opened an investigation, resulting in the arrest of four men, including a known gangster, suspected to be behind the "targeted attack."

Preliminary findings revealed no link between Goyal and the suspects, and the police found no criminal record or history associated with him.

Sergeant Timothy Pierotti, spokesperson for IHIT, emphasized the team’s commitment to uncovering why Goyal was targeted. "Our investigators remain dedicated to determining why Mr. Goyal was the victim of this homicide," he stated.

Back in India, Goyal's parents are demanding justice for their son's murder, which occurred on June 7th, Friday.
