Iran says it is ready for war or peace ahead of indirect talks with United States in Geneva amid rising regional tensions.

The Iranian government has said that it is prepared for both war and peace scenarios ahead of the third round of indirect talks in Geneva, likely to take place this coming Friday.

The third round of talks is likely to be the most important stage of Iran-US negotiations, as United States President Donald Trump has notably expressed frustration over what he describes as four decades of talks without results.

The Iranian president, in a calm and composed demeanour, responded to Trump’s threats, saying, “We continue to closely monitor US actions and have made all necessary preparations for any potential scenario.”

However, tensions between Iran and the US continue to rise as the US State Department ordered the evacuation of non-emergency personnel at the US embassy in Beirut.

Regional experts, along with US-based commentators and analysts, believe a war between Iran and Israel is imminent, since Israel has been amassing military hardware from the West in recent months.

However, they have expressed reservations about US participation in any war, describing the US role as a backer of Tel Aviv with limited military operations inside Iran (mainly defensive support against Iranian retaliation).

Meanwhile, Iranian students on Monday marched through Tehran for the third consecutive day, demanding accountability from the authorities following reports of 3,000 deaths in recent protests.

The US has deployed two of its biggest aircraft carriers, the Abraham Lincoln and Gerald R. Ford, to the region to pile on pressure on the regime, which has partially been successful.

Meanwhile, it is pertinent to mention that the United States would have to contend with several restrictions if it were to enter war against Iran, particularly after several Western nations rejected providing their air bases to the US.

While regional allies have said that they will maintain strategic neutrality and will not allow US forces to use their territory to launch attacks on Iran.
