Iran has executed six ‘fighters’ for having alleged ties to Israel and waging armed attacks on Iranians in the south-western province of Khuzestan, officials said.
Tehran has hastened the executions of people having alleged ties with Israel, especially during its 12-day conflict with Israel in June.
“The death sentence for terrorist elements, who in recent years had carried out a series of armed operations and bombings targeting security in Khuzestan province, was carried out in the morning hours on Saturday,” said the judiciary, after announcing the verdict.
Though the identities of those executed were not released, reports said they were involved in the killing of four security personnel, including two police officers and two members of the Basij paramilitary force, in 2018 and 2019.

Subsequently, investigators revealed that all of the accused had confessed to planning and executing acts of sabotage, such as making and planting bombs and blowing up the Khorramshahr gas station.
Iran has usually linked what it calls “separatist and terrorist” groups to its arch-nemesis, Israel.
Separately, on Saturday, Iranian authorities hanged to death Kurdish fighter, Saman Mohamadi, after convicting him for “Moharebeh” – a term used for waging war against God.
The convicts had applied for clemency, but Iran’s Supreme Court rejected the defendant’s appeal and confirmed the death sentence on charges of “corruption on Earth”, the announcement stated.
Israel and Iran fought a brief 12-day war in June after Tel Aviv carried out air strikes on Tehran, which they called “preventive attacks on the nuclear facilities and military infrastructure”.
Several top scientists, including lead nuclear negotiator, Ali Shamkhani, and several military commanders were killed in the attack.
Iran, in response, launched drones and ballistic missile strikes on Israel, which caused massive destruction inside Israeli cities, including the Mossad headquarters in Tel Aviv.
