India's Ministry of External Affairs has launched a scathing rebuke against Germany for its "blatant interference" in the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Germany's foreign ministry had expressed hope that "standards relating to the independence of the judiciary and basic democratic principles" would be applied in Kejriwal's case, drawing strong condemnation from India.

Summoning the Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy, India lodged a robust protest, denouncing Germany's comments as unwarranted interference in its judicial process.

The Indian government emphasized that India is a vibrant democracy with the rule of law, asserting that the law will take its course in the matter. India rebuked biased assumptions made by Germany, affirming the independence of its judiciary.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in an excise policy-linked money laundering case sparked controversy. The arrest followed the Delhi High Court's refusal to grant Kejriwal protection from coercive action by the central probe agency.

The case revolves around alleged corruption and money laundering in formulating and executing the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22, which was subsequently scrapped.

India's strong response underscores its commitment to preserving its judicial sovereignty and democratic principles. The summoning of the German Embassy official sends a clear message that India will not tolerate external interference in its internal affairs. Germany's comments have ignited diplomatic tensions between the two nations, with India asserting its right to handle legal matters independently.

Germany's foreign ministry's unasked statement, calling for a fair trial for Kejriwal and emphasizing the presumption of innocence, has been viewed by India as crossing a diplomatic line. India sees such remarks as undermining its judiciary and questioning its legal processes. The summoning of the German diplomat underscores India's determination to protect its sovereignty and judicial autonomy.

As the situation escalates, India stands firm in defending its democratic principles and judicial integrity. The incident highlights the delicate balance between diplomatic relations and domestic sovereignty, with India reaffirming its commitment to upholding its legal processes without external interference. Germany's comments have sparked a diplomatic row that underscores the complexities of international relations in an interconnected world.
