United States has restored full access to the Strait of Hormuz for shipping after lifting its siege in the Gulf following the signing of the US-Iran peace memorandum earlier this week. Meanwhile, JD Vance has postponed the formal signing of the peace memorandum, originally scheduled for today in Switzerland. Vance will now lead a new round of talks with Iran after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding to end the war.

Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said that US President Donald Trump had used all kinds of leverage to secure the peace deal.

While much of the world is celebrating the deal and the restoration of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, Israel has so far refused to comply with the terms of the peace agreement, particularly the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon.

Vance had earlier defended the deal despite criticism from US and Israeli officials while announcing that a 60-day negotiating period between Washington and Tehran had begun.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it has lifted its blockade on Iranian ports, while Tehran stated that its Persian Gulf Strait Authority has been tasked with issuing permits for commercial vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf warned in a post on X, “In the event of bad faith, breach of contract, and excessive demands by the opposing side, we have no hesitation in delivering a crushing response to the enemy.”

“They were once slapped during the war; if they wish to tread that path again, they will receive an even harder slap,” he said.
