Death toll in the ongoing counter-terror operations in Balochistan and North Waziristan in Pakistan, has climbed to 256, officials said. This number includes those killed in the terrorist attack carried out in the province on January 31, 2026.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), nearly 21 more suspected militants were killed since Wednesday, besides five security personnel having lost their lives in the action.
“The security forces killed another Baloch Liberation Army militant on Friday night who was carrying medical and ammunition supplies in North Waziristan,” ISPR said, adding that five civilians died in the latest violence when militants tried to infiltrate security installations located in Balochistan.
Pakistan armed forces launched sweeping anti-terror operations across the province following last week’s coordinated attacks at 12 security locations in the region, an official said. “So far, 198 terrorists have been killed in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations during the past five days,” the official added.

Security personnel killed during the operation has now risen to 22, while a total of 36 civilians, including women and children, have lost their lives in the militant attacks, he added.
The counter-terror operation in the Balochistan area has been ongoing since Friday, as forces push deep into the mountainous regions to target hideouts of proscribed outfits, including the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), Tehreek-e-Taliban, Fitna-al-Khawarij, and Majeed Brigade.
The BLA, which has carried out dozens of attacks on security forces, civilians and political leadership since the past decade, claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack.
Meanwhile, mobile and internet services have been suspended across several districts in the area, with train services to other parts of the country also remaining halted for the eighth consecutive day.
Roads from the city of Dera Ghazi Khan to Rakhni town and from Naushki to Taftan also remain closed.
Balochistan has emerged as one of the main theatres of militant activity and security force operations, although it remained relatively calm for much of the month.
The mineral-rich province – a key route for the multibillion-dollar China–Pakistan Economic Corridor – has long been a hotspot for militancy, with some Baloch separatist groups fighting for what they describe as the “liberation” of the province.
