Bollywood singer and music composer Sachin Sanghvi, who shot to fame for his songs in the hit films ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Bhediya’, has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and falsely promising to marry her, police said on Friday.
Sanghvi, one half of the duo Sachin-Jigar, is also accused of promising to feature her in a music album. He was arrested on Thursday under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, an official of the police said.
The complainant, a woman in her 20s, claimed that she came in contact with Sanghvi in February 2024, when he sent her a message on social media app, Instagram.
The singer-composer then allegedly promised her a chance in his music album, and they exchanged phone numbers, the official further said.

Following a probe, the singer was arrested, he added.
Meanwhile, Aditya Mithe, Sanghvi’s lawyer, has refuted the allegations made by the complainant. “The allegations in the FIR against my client are absolutely baseless and unsubstantiated. There are absolutely no merits to the case,” he said, adding, “My client’s detention by the police was illegal, and that is the reason why he was released on bail immediately. We intend to defend all allegations fully and unequivocally.”
Sanghvi has so far not commented on the matter.
