The film "Article 370," featuring Yami Gautam and Priyamani, made its debut in cinemas on February 23. Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, a National Award winner, the movie is based on the PMO's decision to revoke the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir. According to reports, the political drama film has been released in 1,500 cinema halls across 2,200 screens in India.

Produced by Aditya Dhar, who is celebrated for his directorial success with "Uri: The Surgical Strike" and his subsequent National Film Award for Best Director accolade, "Article 370" showcases a talented cast including Yami Gautam, Priyamani, and Arun Govil. In the film, Yami Gautam portrays an intelligence officer, focusing on the strategy to combat terrorism in Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370. This significant move by the Indian government on August 5, 2019, saw the revocation of Article 370, leading to the removal of the special status previously held by the state of Jammu and Kashmir and its division into two union territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

During his Jammu visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large crowd and mentioned Article 370. While addressing a mass gathering, he urged people to watch Yami Gautam’s to-be-released film Article 370.

PM Modi said, “I have heard that a film on Article 370 is going to be released this week… It is a good thing as it will help people in getting correct information.”

Actor Yami Gautam took to platform X and expressed her gratitude to PM Modi.

Reposting a clip from the event, Yami wrote on X, “It is an absolute honour to watch PM@narendramodi Ji talk about #Article370Movie.”

She, further, added: “My team and I really hope that we all exceed your expectations in bringing this incredible story to the screen.”

As the reviews roll in here are a few comments from viewers about the film.

One user wrote, “It's the feel-good movie of the year – I found it very touching." A “feel-good" movie is one that makes you feel good, obviously! The word touching means that it affected you emotionally kudos Yami Gautam and team . What a film.. Eye opener. must watch film. #JaiHind"

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel calls the film top notch political thriller. Taking to X, he wrote, “#Article370 is a 𝐓𝐎𝐏 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐑 that masterfully explores the abrogation of the Article 370 Act in Jammu and Kashmir. The screenplay is riveting and moves at a supremely fast pace, ensuring that viewers remain engaged from start to finish. The narrative skillfully covers all the major highlights leading up to the abrogation, including the killing of dreaded terrorist Burhan Wani, the Pulwama attack, intricate legal processes involved & few more shocking incidents."

Another user from Canada wrote, “It is gripping yet simplistic and tells the most effective story in an entertaining manner. The drama holds your attention and Yami Gautam never disappoints, here her performance is Outstanding. It’s always great to see a charming actor in Yami Gautam who captures your attention even when they are just standing in the frame. Priyamani is parallel and gives gripping performance too. Easily the better movie of 2024 so far."

“Article 370 not just a movie, it reflects emotions and Rashtraneeti over vested interests selfless sacrifices of numerous souls change after abrogation has affected only 3 names as was rightly addressed in Parliament. Itihaas banaane k liye itihaas likhna padta hai NayaBhaarat," posted another user.
