Aimee Lou Wood to play Jane Eyre

According to reports, the new adaptation is being written by Miriam Battye and produced by Working Title.


English actress Aimee Lou Wood is set to lead a series adaptation of “Jane Eyre”.

 

The upcoming period drama, based on Charlotte Brontë's 1847 novel, follows the emotional and moral growth of protagonist Jane, as she navigates love, social equality and independence in the 19th century.

 

The 1847 novel—which was considered revolutionary for its first-person narrative style and approach to class, sexuality and female independence—follows the titular heroine as she grows into adulthood and falls for the brooding Mr. Rochester.

The last major TV adaptation of “Jane Eyre” was in 2006, starring Ruth Wilson, while Cary Joji Fukunaga last adapted it for the big screen in 2011 starring Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender.

 

According to reports, the new adaptation is being written by Miriam Battye and produced by Working Title.

 

Emmy nominee Aimee rose to prominence for playing Aimee Gibbs in Netflix's teen comedy “Sex Education”.

 

And last year, Aimee took her career to further heights with a starring role in smash-hit HBO drama “The White Lotus”.
