In Odisha, Sambit Patra, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Puri Lok Sabha constituency, officially submitted his nomination papers on Monday, marking a significant step in the electoral process.

Patra expressed confidence in the BJP's prospects, asserting that not only would they secure victory in the Puri Lok Sabha seat, but also in all seven Vidhan Sabha seats with substantial margins.

Emphasising his dedication to serving the people of Puri over the past five years, Patra highlighted the forthcoming election's alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pledges.

Reflecting on his previous electoral performance in 2019, where he secured an impressive 5.27 lakh votes despite a short preparation period, Patra expressed optimism about the BJP's prospects in the upcoming polls.

During the nomination filing process, Patra was buoyed by the overwhelming support of nearly 1 lakh individuals, demonstrating a strong backing for his candidacy despite challenging weather conditions.

He envisioned a transformative outcome for Odisha, foreseeing the formation of a BJP-led government with a resounding victory, echoing Prime Minister Modi's track record of delivering on promises.

In the electoral arena, Patra faces competition from Sucharita Mohanty of the Congress party for the Puri Lok Sabha seat, setting the stage for a competitive contest on May 25, when the constituency goes to the polls.

Across Odisha, elections for both the Assembly and Lok Sabha will be conducted concurrently in four phases, spanning from May 13 to June 1, with results slated for announcement on June 4.

Reflecting on the political landscape of the state, the 2019 Lok Sabha elections saw the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) emerge as the leading party, securing 12 seats, closely followed by the BJP with eight seats and the Congress with a single seat. As the electoral process unfolds once again, stakeholders eagerly anticipate the outcome, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4.
