General secretary of the Wayanad District Congress Committee PM Sudhakaran has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

After tendering his resignation, Sudhakaran trained his guns at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He inquired about Rahul’s ‘accessibility’ towards the people of Wayanad, thereby claiming that Rahul was 'inaccessible' to him.

Sudhakaran joined the BJP at an election committee office in Kalpetta. Addressing a function held at the committee office, the erstwhile Congress leader said, “I have joined the BJP as I have faith in the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP is a party that is more dedicated towards society’s development.”

In praise of the BJP candidate K Surendran from Wayanad, who is also the party’s chief, Sudhakaran said: “For implementation of Prime Minister Modi’s development projects, K Surendran should be elected as the MP from Wayanad and I will work towards ensuring this. It is for the betterment of the people of Wayanad to elect K Surendran and not Rahul Gandhi.

In the Lok Sabha elections in Kerala on April 26, Rahul Gandhi is up against the BJP’s Surendran and CPI leader Annie Raja in Wayanad.

Sudhakaran, further, added: “Wayanad will be destroyed if Rahul Gandhi, who cheated the people for five years, is given another chance”.

He also asked whether the Congress MP was ready to assure the people of Wayanad that he would not contest in Amethi, the party leader’s former stronghold in Uttar Pradesh.

The party has not announced its candidate for Amethi yet.

Rahul Gandhi had won the Amethi seat for three consecutive times since 2004. However, Union Minister Smriti Irani defeated him in the 2019 general elections by 55,000 votes.
